What are the main characteristics of spherical roller bearings?

  1. The structural principle of this type of bearing is similar to that of the self-aligning ball bearing. The outer ring raceway of the self-aligning roller bearing is a part of the spherical surface, and its curvature center is on the bearing axis. Under the condition that the load capacity and the maximum speed allow, they can be used interchangeably.
  2. The outer ring raceway of this type of bearing is spherical, so it has good self-aligning performance and can compensate for coaxiality errors, thus achieving automatic self-alignment.
  3. In the section perpendicular to the rolling direction, the roller line is a curve, which can match well with the inner and outer raceways. The roller and the raceway are in line contact, which can withstand radial loads and axial loads in any direction and has good impact resistance.
  4. The rollers and raceways of spherical roller bearings have a high degree of fit and are all curved generatrixes, so the relative sliding is serious and the friction is greater than that of cylindrical roller bearings, so the permissible operating speed of spherical roller bearings is lower.
  5. Ordinary spherical roller bearings have non-aligned rollers, which will generate an axial force component during operation. The rollers are affected by this force component and contact the central fixed rib, thereby improving the bearing's load-bearing capacity.
