Angular contact ball bearings are particularly suitable for carrying combined loads, that is, loads acting simultaneously in the radial and axial directions. Single row angular contact ball bearings are usually two or more bearings of the same type used together. There are three ways to install and use: back-to-back, face-to-face, and in the same direction.
Angular contact ball bearings are often used in machine tool spindle components as spindle supports. The picture shows a common structure of angular contact ball bearings in machine tool spindle components. This structure is widely used in grinding machine tools. It uses two sets of bearings arranged in the same direction and placed opposite each other at both ends of the shaft. In the structure shown in the figure, the outer rings of the pair of bearings at the right end are axially fixed, while the outer rings of the pair of bearings at the left end are axially freed to the left, and the right side is supported by a spring seat supported by a spring. In this way, when the temperature rise causes the spindle to elongate, the pair of bearings at the left end can move to the left in the sleeve, thereby compensating for the thermal expansion of the spindle and allowing the bearings to maintain their original preload. The spring plays a role in eliminating bearing clearance and applying preload force. The size of the preload force is determined by the working load, and the spring size and number of springs are determined accordingly. The structure of the diagram has been proven to be very reasonable in practice and is suitable for occasions with high speed requirements and light loads.
